Thomas Hardy ? Literature is a mirror of real life which can reflect all aspects of people’s lives. ? Tragedy is a kind of literary creation, which is not a simple artistic form or technique but the repeat of real society. It can depict the piteous, sad, distressing and sentimental plots by describing some tortuous or complicated events. The British famous writer Thomas Hardy was one of the excellent novelists of the Victorian age. He delineated a lot of characters of tragedies, showing various persons’ enchantment. He persuades her to see the reality in her relationship with Angel and convinces her to become his mistress. Outline ? Tess Durbeyfield is a 16-year-old simple country girl. In a chance ,Tess meets Alec d’Urberville, who finds himself attracted to Tess. Alec seduces and rapes Tess. Tess returns home, gives birth to a son, but died for illness. OUTLINE ? Tess makes another journey away from home, and she meets and falls in love with Angel Clare. After the wedding, Tess and Angel confess their pasts to each other. Tess forgives Angel for his past indiscretions, but Angel cannot forgive Tess for having a child with another man. Angel going to Brazil for a year and Tess going back home. ? Tess returns to Alec while Angel returns from Brazil to look for Tess. Tess kills Alec and stays with Angel for 7 days and then polices takes Tess away. Status of woman ?
